Maintenance Free Bearings




Application:
A series of 3 sheaves (one under water, one splash zone, one dry) with a maximum
bearing load of 900 Metric Tons. DRIE-D designed and produced the D-Glide
bearings in 3 weeks, the costs were much lower than those of any of the investigated
alternatives and this solution was the only one that was truly maintenance free.

Offshore: one of the 3 identical sheaves with D-glide F bushings,
incorporating seals to keep out the bearings and separate thrust washers.
(Sheave weight: 7MT each after 6.5 MT had been machined off each).
