Offshore J-Lay Tower

Application:
One of the challenges of a J-lay installation is to keep the pipe where it should be. The
tensioners used for this should be designed as compact as possible to keep the
dimensions of the total installation under control. This of course means that stresses
in the various components are taken to the limit and the result is a relatively flexible
construction. By using D-glide bushings in all joints and hinges peak stresses remain
relatively low because of the low stiffness of the material. The bearings easily take up
the misalignments caused by the flexibility.
