Maintenance Free Bearings




Application:
Horizontal, deck mounted fairleads normally use large roller bearings for the barrel. To
keep the in good condition seals and lubrication are essential and even then they do
not live forever. Roller bearings in these dimensions (shaft diameters of 700 and up)
are expensive and delivery times are long. D-glide bearings are often a good alternative
for these kind of applications due to their low friction values. DRIE-D has the ability to
mount D-Glide sheet material in radius in a metal housing and in this way in short time
any size bearing can be produced at a fraction of the costs of a comparable roller
bearings. Additional advantages are that they do not require any maintenance, allowable
load limits are much higher and they can be used both dry and in (sea) water without any
provisions. For new installations the dimensions of the D-glide bearings can be much
smaller than comparable roller bearings.
